HK offers affordable DC automation
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2005
Integrating HK Systems' automated storage and retrieval machine design, the HK3000/RF (rotating fork) offers an automated materials handling option for warehouse operators with conventional turret trucks or people considering the layout for a new DC, according to Mike Kotecki, senior vice president of HK Systems.
Kotecki asserted that the system accomplishes 90% of the throughput of a man-on-board lift. The system is capable of replenishing pick locations on the floor or mezzanine level with a voice-command application.
An RFID reader is standard on the HK3000/RF that scans pallets as they are brought on board.
HK's Palletrunner can take pallets deep into a racking system and return to home base to await its next task. In pick-from-pallet applications, HK has also introduced an in-rack pallet accumulator, bottom-fed by the HK3000/RF.
