Aker Wade and EnerSys partner

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2005

Aker Wade Power Technologies and battery-provider EnerSys have partnered to provide a complete fast-charging battery solution for heavy-duty electric vehicle fleet applications.

"Together we can provide a full range of products from 200 amps to 650 amps," said Bret Aker, CEO of Aker Wade Power Technologies. "And with EnerSys' network, we can provide service and support nationwide."

The companies' solutions can be applied to pallet jacks, tuggers, narrow aisle reach trucks, sit-down lift trucks and other vehicles in multi-shift environments in manufacturing, distribution and cold storage operations.

A fast-charging system can charge a battery in 1½ hours or less, according to Aker. Aker Wade's solutions charge one or two trucks at a time.
