Inther voice software integrates PDAs
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2005
Systems integrator and software producer Inther has announced the release of their voice-recognition software for PDAs.
The software is designed to work for pick-to-light applications, according to Martijn Herder, chief executive officer of Inther.
The software is compatible to any hands-free PDA and can be downloaded from an outdated system onto a new server seamlessly, Herder explained. The voice-recognition software directs the picker to the appropriate pick area where the picker acknowledges their arrival to the workstation.
Upon location confirmation (performed by bar code recitation by the picker), Inther's system will instruct the picker regarding the amount of product to be picked. Once picked, the picker will indicate by number the amount chosen and is instructed to a new area. "The system allows the picker to be 100% concentrated on order picking," Herder asserted.
