Innovator remembered

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2005

George G. Raymond, Jr., president of The Raymond Corporation from 1953 to 1977 and chairman from 1978 to 1994, passed away recently at the age of 83. Under his leadership, The Raymond Corporation grew from $5 million in annual revenues to $230 million.

Raymond spearheaded the development of the industry's first battery-powered, narrow aisle lift trucks. "George was truly an industry innovator," says James J. Malvaso, president and CEO of The Raymond Corporation. "The values and philosophies he installed at Raymond remain a big part of this company today."
