Overhead crane operator certification program
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2005
A new certification program for operators of overhead cranes was announced at ProMat by the National Association for the Certification of Crane Operators (CCO) and the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA).
The test will certify operators of cab-operated or floor- and pendant-operated five-ton cranes with three powered functions.
The program consists of a physical exam, a substance abuse test, a valid and reliable written exam covering 60 multiple-choice questions and a hands-on practical exam.
Test fees, which will be paid by the operators or their companies, were finalized last month and the first tests will be administered before the end of this month. For more information, visit the National Commission's Web site at www.nccco.org.
