Will Oracle and PeopleSoft impact the supply chain software market?
Oracle’s fight for PeopleSoft is over. The challenge now is for Larry Ellison’s team to find a way to merge the two companies and product lines from PeopleSoft, J.D. Edwards (an earlier acquisition by PeopleSoft) and Oracle into one business that makes sense to users of their products.

And, in keeping with one of the latest supply chain management trends, Oracle is dubbing this new approach “fusion.”

The fusion of Sterling and Yantra
Oracle/PeopleSoft wasn’t the only merger in the supply chain space at the end of the year.

For instance, JP Morgan Chase Bank agreed to acquire Vastera, a provider of global trade management solutions. • Headwater Technology Solutions acquired Delfour assets; Establishes supply chain business division
  Further extending its thrust into the North American and international enterprise business solutions market, professional services firm, Headwater Technology Solutions, Inc., has acquired the assets of Delfour, developer and marketer of third party logistics solutions for ambient and temperature controlled warehousing facilities and one of the first to provide management software solutions for the emerging fourth party logistics field.

• Deloitte Consulting and HighJump Software, a 3M Company, form alliance to deliver supply chain execution solutions to global customers

• Brooks Software announces real-time manufacturing productivity solutions for aerospace and defense manufacturers
  Brooks Software, a division of Brooks Automation, Inc, provider of real-time applications for enterprises with collaborative, complex manufacturing operations, announced a suite of four aerospace and defense (A&D) manufacturing solutions that it intends on rolling out in 2005 aimed at improving manufacturing productivity and enhancing enterprise performance.
