Focus on Bar code scanners

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 7/1/2005

Scanner offers seamless integration

The MS 32XX scanner is specifically designed for standalone applications. The scan module delivers speedy plug-and-play installation. The omnidirectional scan pattern minimizes the need for precise positioning of 1D symbols and is suitable for intuitive self scanning applications. With a rugged durable housing, exit window, integrated beeper and interface options, the scanner allows for quick integration for high-performance 1D and 2D bar code data capture.

High-speed scanner

Housed in a rugged IP65-rated enclosure, the AXIOM bar code reader performs up to 1,400 scans per second. The scanner is designed for easy setup and operation—integrated software provides a familiar Windows-based user interface. Users can configure readers without the need for onsite service. Simply connect to AXIOM via the setup cable or the onboard Ethernet connection and specify valid bar code types, groups, and patterns. After defining input/output, application settings are downloaded to the reader.

Rugged reader

SP400 scanners are adaptable for use in a wide variety of demanding data capture environments. A single system can support a number of interfaces with only a cable change. The unit supports all popular bar code symbologies, automatically discriminating between 13 different codes. A tough rubber bumper and rubber cable end-cap help ensure durability. The scanner has been proven reliable after more than 10 five-foot drops onto concrete. A low-power, compact visible laser diode and a cushioned internal assembly add to its low maintenance use in rugged environments.

Integrate with existing operations

This imaging solution is ready for easy integration into either existing or newly designed hand-held or fixed-mount scanners, or portable data collection terminals. The SX5000 bundles standard-sized image engines with one of three powerful processor boards and all required software. The safe LED-based illumination removes the risks involved with lasers without sacrificing performance.

Fast and accurate

This scanning system reads all the common two-dimensional and matrix bar codes, and provides accurate omnidirectional bar code reads. Ranked with the fastest 2D imagers, the LG2 is proficient at reading small, very high-density symbols as well as bar codes at extended ranges. Dual optical paths optimize reading at both near and far distances. A 400 MHz, 32-bit microprocessor operation delivers super-fast decoding and a 1.3 million-pixel CMOS sensor assures quality, high-density images.

Scanner reads degraded symbols

DataMan readers incorporate IDMax, a breakthrough in data matrix reading software, according to the supplier. The scanner handles a wide range of degradations to the appearance of the code, no matter what the cause, allowing the system to deliver high read rates within a compact framework. The system incorporates LED illumination for reading laser or inkjet marks where the contrast may vary due to changes in background and/or process variability. Offering quick setup and configuration, the reader features a rugged, ergonomic design.

Capture sharp images

The MS1690 Focus is a high performance, hand-held area imager designed for industrial applications. The system captures and transmits sharp images in a variety of formats. A rugged housing protects the scanner in harsh environments, while a bright laser line enhances reader effectiveness. Weighing less than 200 grams, the unit is ergonomic, reducing operator fatigue. In-stand scanning is made possible with an automatic stand detection feature.

No computer required

The Quadrus EZ offers a scanning solution for 1D and 2D symbols at the push of a button, no computer required. A versatile, industrial reader, the scanner also reads laser-etch and dot peen symbols in a factory environment. The system decodes up to 60 scans per second with a read range of 10 inches. An extended read range is possible with an optional external camera. One touch setup button and Ethernet connectivity make for easy installation.

Omnidirectional reader is versatile

The Lynx D432 performs omnidirectional reading on a wide range of symbologies from the most common 1D and 2D codes to stacked codes, improving productivity and efficiency in any application. Users capture the entire image of the object to be identified no matter how it is oriented, avoiding any alignment constraint between the reader and the symbol to be read. In addition, the Lynx D432 can be used for image-based applications including signature capture. The captured image can be processed on board, or downloaded in different formats for image processing on the host side.

Extended battery life

An improved lithium polymer rechargeable battery features six times longer storage time between charges for the BI 3500, compared to the previous model. Enhanced performance reads 32K in one second, and both 1-D and 2-D bar codes. An 8MB flash memory retains data even when the battery is unplugged, and has a greater memory capacity. Data can be entered using the full alphanumeric keypad, contact memory buttons, scroll lists or scanned bar codes.
