RFID forum addresses pitfalls
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 9/1/2005
When organizations such as Wal-Mart, the Department of Defense and supply chains including the pharmaceutical industry explored and then embraced RFID technology, they were attracted by some very desirable capabilities. Now, in year two of beta testing, some have come to re-think realistic goals. The truth is that some of the theoretical capabilities are difficult, if not impossible to achieve, at least in the short run.
With that in mind, the "Truth in Technologies 2005: Supply Chain RFID" forum will explore the adjustment of realistic benchmarks associated with RFID implementation. The event, sponsored by the AIDC 100, will be held at Sony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, on Oct. 27. For more information on the forum or to register, visit www.aidc100.org.
