Overhead handling safety alliance formed
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 10/1/2005
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announces an alliance with the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA), the Hoist Manufacturers Institute (HMI) and the Monorail Manufacturers Association (MMA). The alliance's mission is to provide crane, hoist and monorail system operators with access to education and training resources.
OSHA established its umbrella Alliance Program in March 2002 to enable organizations committed to safety to work with OSHA to prevent injuries and fatalities in the work place. The groups plan to research and disseminate case study materials that will allow members to evaluate safety considerations for these types of materials handling equipment.
