New crane certification
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2006
A new certification program for operators of overhead cranes has been announced by the Certification of Crane Operators (CCO) and the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA).
The test will certify operators of cab-operated or floor- and pendant-operated, five-ton cranes with three powered functions. The program consists of a physical exam, a substance abuse test, a valid and reliable written exam covering 60 multiple-choice questions as well as a hands-on practical exam.
Test fees, which will be paid by the operators or their companies, will be finalized in February and the first tests will be administered before the end of the month. For more information, visit the National Commission's Web site.
