Interlake brings its bolted rack to U.S.

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2006

Rack supplier Interlake has introduced its version of bolted rack systems to the United States market. Although the standard in much of the world, bolted rack domestically takes a back seat to welded rack.

Mike Gonzalez, president and chief executive officer of Interlake, says bolted rack offers many advantages. "Our typical rack buyer is focused on material costs, transport cost, and installation costs," he says. "With bolted rack, our manufacturing processes cost less, and transportation costs are curbed because we can load trucks to max capacity with stacked components, versus shipping welded frames."

He adds that higher installation costs are offset by the savings in both transit and manufacturing.
