New packaging meets lighter volume needs

NA2006 eShow Daily

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/30/2006

Known for its bubble wrap packaging solutions, Sealed Air Corporation (Booth 1000) is showcasing its line of foam packaging solutions. The product line, which gives custom fitting protection to shipments, premiered its Instapak Quick RT this week at the I-X Center.

Instapak Quick RT doesn't require special equipment to activate the foam bag, just hand pressure, which makes it a good fit for lower volume needs, said Paul Saunderson, Sealed Air's product manager. The company offered an Instapak Quick product before, but the RT version, which stands for room temperature, does not require a warm bag.

The Instapak line includes both foam-in-place and foam-in bag variations. Instapak Quick RT is a foam-in-bag approach.  Sealed Air also offers two other foam-in-bag products for medium to higher volume needs, including at the high end the SpeedyPacker Insight system, which can handle up to 21 foam filled bags per minute.

"[SpeedyPacker] has seen wide and varied applications," said Saunderson. "It suits anything medium to high value that is fragile, such as a computer peripheral, or manufactured parts and components."

Instapak Quick RT is designed for small businesses such as art shops, on-line retailers as well as larger businesses that need custom-fitting shipment protection in lower-volumes. The overall advantage of the Instapak line, says Saunderson, is that "it provides made-to-measure protection on a just-in-time basis."
