Storopack (Booth 3040), manufacturer of protective packaging and cushioning solutions, is featuring the AIRPlus Mini, which produces air pillows at a rate of 20 feet per minute—occupying less than two square feet of desktop space.
The portable, 20-pound unit can be plugged into any standard wall outlet and uses ambient air to produce air pillows on demand. "Users can literally pick it up and go," said Jim Wahl, Storopack marketing representative. "If volume isn't high enough to justify one larger machine, you can spread out multiple smaller machines." The AIRPlus Mini produces air pillows in eight-inch widths, and lengths of four or eight inches. The amount of air in each pillow can be adjusted based on specific packaging requirements. Film (available in 1.4 or 2.0 mill thickness) can be pre-printed with a company's logo for bracing. Anti-static LDPE film is available for electronics applications. Also being showcased at the booth: The Waterfall—a foot-switch activated machine that drops air pillows directly into packages. "It takes the guesswork out of how much is too much in terms of filling the packages," said Wahl, "because filling packages with air pillows can be arbitrary and overfilling or underfilling can lead to product damage."The Waterfall releases single, unlinked air pillows, and has a reclaim system. "The overfill refeeds right back into the waterfall," said TJ Perras, national accounts manager and packaging systems engineer at Storopack.
