Vocollect (Booth 832), a supplier of voice-directed work technology, announced yesterday that it has acquired Adherence Technologies Corp., a maker of voice-activated documentation and communication systems for nursing homes.
The acquisition is part of Vocollect's plan to expand into new markets, but Larry Sweeney, vice president of product management, said the company remains dedicated to its traditional customer base."(This acquisition) doesn't mean we're losing our focus on distribution. It's still A No. 1 for us," he said.Sweeney also said the company will be introducing a wireless headset in the next few months, which customers will be able to use in conjunction with the company's pocket-sized Talkman T5 wearable computer. The T5 is already equipped with Bluetooth technology that allows it to wirelessly communicate with peripheral devices such as belt-worn printers, diagnostic equipment and bar code readers.
