Portal links supply chain partners

Hoping to bridge the gap between supply chain partners, Sockeye Solutions has created a portal to keep everyone in the loop.
Using a managed Web portal, Sockeye facilitates real-time event reporting to only the members of the supply chain that are directly affected by such events, according to Subhasis Ojha, director product marketing for the company. "We establish trading circles that allow for communication among partners overseas with common interests," he says. "Instead of location acting as a roadblock to communication, we are able to get partners on the same page."
The portal also acts as a supply chain filter that allows partners access to only the information that pertains to their particular expertise. The portal ensures information flowing on the supply chain is kept secure.
Attesting to the effectiveness of the coupling software is Curtis Suyematsu, a supply chain associate for Hewlett Packard. "The solution we have in place via the Sockeye application gives us the ability to define rules to deal with all the dimensions (of our supply chain)," he says. "As you can imagine, these rules can be sophisticated based on the nature of the collaborative relationship."
