Handheld reads markings on any surface
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2006
Reading a variety of identification codes on a variety of surfaces just got easier. Cognex Corporation has developed an all-in-one handheld reader that reads markings—from the most challenging direct part marking (DPM) codes to the easiest bar codes—on almost any surface. And with DPM gaining prominence in the warehouse space, such tools are becoming a necessity, says Justin Testa, Cognex senior vice president of ID Products.
The DataMan 7500 combines IDMax code reading software with UltraLight illumination technology that allows for reads regardless of marking method or of the part's material, shape or surface texture. Cord and cordless models are available.
The DataMan supports USB, keyboard wedge and RS232 communications, and the cordless model is Bluetooth enabled.
