Materials handling equipment shipments and backlogs reach all-time highs

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2006

The value of shipments of materials handling equipment surpassed the $2 billion mark for the first time ever in January 2006. Equipment orders were also high, though not as high as they were in January 2005. The growing backlog of orders may mean higher prices and delivery times for new orders.

Jan 2006 Change from Jan 2005
Shipments ($M) 2016* Up 23%
Orders ($M) 2155 Down 7%
Unfilled Orders ($M) 7628* Up 15%
