Patrick F. King, Ph.D., head of global electronics strategies for the Michelin tire company, was named the winner of the 2006 Don Percival Award in recognition of his contributions to the field of automatic identification. The award is presented annually by AIM Global, the association for automatic identification and mobility.
King's leadership helped establish a single tire tracking standard using RFID. He continues to work toward establishing global standards for other RFID applications, quality and data content. King belongs to several national and international standardization organizations and holds more than 20 patents in the fields of automatic identification, RFID, imaging, lasers and printing.
The Percival Award was established in 1982 to honor Don Percival, an early founder and pioneer in the development of bar code scanning.
