Printing supplier responds to market demands
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2006

Industrial print consumers are driven by the following five priorities: ruggedness of the unit, price range, ease of connectivity, warranty and print speed, according to research out by the Venture Development Corporation (VDC).
Eager to meet market demands, suppliers seem to have satisfied their customers' desire for rugged, durable units: the average lifespan of a printer is now between five and seven years, up from four and six years just a short time ago.
To address the remaining requirements, Cognitive Solutions has introduced the C series of thermal and thermal transfer bar code printers in a desktop package for big-box printing duties. Available in two-inch and four-inch media widths, the printers feature metal print mechanisms that curb printer breakdown, and print speeds up to 8 inches per second. Both serial and parallel ports accommodate legacy systems. Built-in Ethernet capabilities are standard.
