Systems Inc. buys WB McGuire

Systems Inc., maker of the Poweramp and DLM dock equipment lines, has purchased the assets of WB McGuire from its parent company, Overhead Door Corp.

Systems plans to continue manufacturing WB McGuire products and marketing them under the WB McGuire name. The WB McGuire plant in Hudson, N.Y., is scheduled to close July 31, after which manufacturing activities will be moved to Systems' plants in Germantown, Wis., and Malvern, Ark.

"Our plan is to continue to differentiate those products from our others, but to produce them in the same plants," says Systems executive vice president Mike Pilgrim. He adds that Systems intends to support Overhead Door in fulfilling warranty obligations.

Jim Fanning, vice president of marketing for Overhead Door, says the company sold WB McGuire to focus on its core business: residential and commercial upward-acting doors.
