Focus on hoists

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 8/1/2006

Air-powered hoists lift up to 25 tons

Rugged cast iron housings make TCR large-capacity, air-powered hoists ideal for heavy lifting in extreme environments. Available in 10- and 25-ton capacities, the vane motor design permits fine feathering control, high lifting and lowering speeds and an unlimited duty cycle for continuous operation. Noise levels are low. The load limiter stops the lift when the load exceeds rated capacity.

Hand chain hoist features quiet braking system

With a 360-degree rotating chain guide, the Hurricane hand chain hoist allows the operator to lift up to 10 tons while working from almost any position. Safety is provided by a redesigned, quiet braking system and automatic overload protecting load limiter. Heat-treated gearing, a hardened alloy steel load chain and a corrosion protection finish make the hoist rugged and durable.

Wire rope hoist has longer service life

With a lifting speed of 24 feet per minute, the DR rope hoist offers faster handling rates while providing variable cross travel speeds for low-sway movement, exact positioning and gentle treatment of sensitive loads. Instead of the usual FEM 2m classified gearboxes, which are rated at 1,600 hours service life, the gearboxes in DR heavy duty hoists are 2m+ classified and rated at 1,900 hours. This longer life comes in a compact, modular design.

Spot loads precisely

The durable JET JPNX lever hoist features all-steel construction, a one-piece cast handle and enclosed automatic brake system for precise load spotting. Load control is effortless with single-hand operation. Permanently lubricated gears and a premium grade 100 low-wear chain are standard. Drop forged safety hooks swivel 360 degrees.

Manually lift loads safely

Griphoist-Trifor T-500 series lever-operated hoists use a separate wire rope to lift loads safely and efficiently. A telescopic operating handle allows an individual operator to work in any position and control the hoist at any lift height.

High efficiency air hoists

Higher lifting speeds in a compact unit lead to greater efficiency in the PROFI series of air hoists. Using a high-performance grease to achieve permanent motor lubrication, these hoists offer precisely regulated lifting and lowering speeds without oiling. An integrated main air emergency-valve provides safety along with overload protection in larger models.

Rugged construction withstands extremes

Combining a high-strength steel load chain with a chrome hand chain and chrome molybdenum gears, the H-100 series of manual chain hoists resists damage despite extreme conditions. Both chains, along with the hand chain wheel and brake are covered to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the hoist. A load chain stopper prevents over-lowering. Two safety hooks are designed to bend slowly to warn of overload.

Disc motor brake holds up to tough torque demands

With a motor built to meet the most severe reversal and starting torque demands, this wire rope hoist is durable and efficient. Hardened and polished helical gears and pinions make the gear train quiet and compact with a low weight-to-output ratio. In the event of a power failure, a DC rectified magnet actuated brake applies automatically for safety and overload limits monitor loads to prevent lifting above the hoist's capacity.

Compact electric hoist for low headroom Uses

With a compact, redesigned bottom block, the P&H Hevi-lift M series electric wire-rope hoist is suited to low headroom applications. The welded steel body with ductile iron sheave guards is highly durable. Power for the hoist comes from a Class F, totally enclosed fan cooled motor. A 250% torque rated DC rectified magnetic brake ensures adequate stopping power.

Actuated disc brake makes rapid stops without drift

Using an AC magnet actuated disc brake, Speedway electric chain hoists make rapid stops with virtually no hook drift. Motor thermostats are standard, ensuring running and overcurrent protection. Gears are enclosed in a fluted aluminum alloy housing for rapid heat dissipation.
