Scanner engine goes the distance
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 1/9/2007
In a demonstration of the long-range scanning capabilities of the company's new EX25 scan engine, Intermec employees recently attempted to scan a two-dimensional bar code at a range of 100 feet. They not only met the goal, they surpassed it with a successful scan from 108 feet away.
The demonstration took place in the atrium of Intermec's office building in Everett, Wash., during the company's 40th anniversary celebration. According to Tracy Hillstrom, group manager for data capture systems, the demo was a fun way to test the boundaries of the new engine, which allows an area imager to focus at long distances.
