Mecalux plans U.S. expansion

Spanish storage systems provider Mecalux ( www.mecalux.com) is set to become the new owner of U.S. pallet rack supplier Interlake Material Handling ( www.interlake.com).

Mecalux has purchased an option to buy United Fixtures/Interlake (UFI), the holding company formed last spring when Interlake merged with retail storage supplier United Fixtures.

Mecalux can't exercise its option to acquire UFI until June 2008. If the sale is completed, Mecalux will have a significantly expanded North American presence, growing from one North American manufacturing plant to eight.
