PSC brand bar code scanners won’t be available much longer. Datalogic, Europe’s largest automatic data capture (ADC) company, acquired PSC in 2005 and has announced it will retire the PSC brand and logo at the beginning of April.
PSC’s Falcon wireless terminals and PowerScan industrial handheld scanners will be re-branded as Datalogic Falcon and Datalogic PowerScan products. According to a press release from the company, Datalogic will add a star to its logo to represent the PSC legacy.
Since the merger, PSC has operated as a stand-alone subsidiary of Datalogic from PSC’s headquarters in Eugene, Ore. Those Oregon headquarters will now become headquarters for the scanning division of Datalogic.
“Integration with Datalogic and alignment to a more autonomous structure makes good business sense,” says current PSC president Bill Parnell. “It will make the company stronger and more effective.”
