Pallets
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2007
It's been estimated that 2 billion pallets are in use every day in the United States and that 90% of them are made of wood. While some place the number higher and others lower than 2 billion, it's clear that wooden pallets are and will continue to be the heart of the U.S. materials handling industry. Sales of plastic pallets are growing, however, because of such influences as rising wood prices, environmental concerns, international regulations regarding pest control and the potential of combining RFID tags and plastic pallets to make both technologies affordable options.
