Dock equipment and safety go on the road
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2007
In an industry first, 4Front Engineered Solutions (www.4FrontES.com) is taking its dock equipment on the road. Literally.
The company has outfitted a 53-foot trailer with its full line of dock levelers, vehicle restraints, doors, controls, seals and shelters.
“We have onboard full-size, working equipment that can now be demonstrated to people at their locations,” explains Steve Sprunger, vice president of sales and marketing for 4Front Engineered Solutions, previously known as SPX Dock Products. “Anything we can show people at our headquarters, we can now show them at their headquarters,” adds Sprunger. To see a video of the trailer visit mmh.com/article/CA6428578.html.
In addition to demonstrating dock equipment, the trailer, which can be on the road 250 days a year, is a way to reinforce the importance of dock safety, says Sprunger.
“People learn more when they are in front of the equipment. They become more aware of safety. And this trailer allows us to expand the circle of people who have that chance to become more safety conscious,” he adds.
Of the 17 products on board, many are fully operational. “This is a great chance for people to get their hands on the equipment before they ever make a buying decision,” says Sprunger. In addition, two 42-inch plasma televisions provide video and other presentations on dock equipment and its use.
