Materials handling systems integrator W&H Systems announced this week it has been acquired by Goods Movement, Inc., a newly formed company based in Rancho Dominguez, Calif.
Goods Movement, a $130 million total logistics provider, was formed by the combination of three U.S. materials handling and logistics suppliers:
- W&H Systems of Carlstadt, N.J., a designer, installer and integrator of materials handling systems
- North American Conveyor, Inc., of Azusa, Calif., a fabricator and installer of conveyor and sorting equipment primarily serving the U.S. Postal Service
- Total Transportation Services, Inc., of Rancho Dominguez, Calif., a transportation and third-party logistics provider
A group of private investors—Frazier Co., TPW Investments and NewStar Financial—is financing the new entity.
Don Betman, president of W&H Systems, says he expects his company to continue operating as it has been, but with some added opportunities and sales synergies.
“This is an extremely exciting transaction for us” says Betman. “We have been very successful in growing our business in recent years, and the financial backing and stability of Goods Movement will allow us to continue our momentum.”
