Battery chargers for motive equipment

Energic Plus battery chargers are offered in more than 270 different styles. They may be used with a variety of materials handling equipment and motive applications, including electric lift trucks, order pickers, electric vehicles, tractors for indoor transportation, automatic conveyance systems, and emergency plant vehicles. Features include fully automatic operation, CSA and UL approvals, compact housing for easy storage, a three-year warranty on all charger parts and a five-year warranty on the transformer. Systems Material Handling, 800-255-4109, www.smhco.com.

Modular workstations and storage

Featuring welded construction and simple assembly with pre-installed rivet nuts, the MTech line of workstations and storage products maximize efficiency while withstanding heavy shop use. Constructed of heavy gauge electro-galvanized steel for increased corrosion resistance, the pieces may be customized from any combination of drawers and cabinets. Matching tool cabinets, carts and benches are offered. Hose reels and lift control power units may be mounted in the cabinets, which incorporate electrical outlet and under cabinet light punchouts. SteelHead Design, 800-261-0761, www.steelheadesign.com.

Racking system handles three pallets simultaneously

The patent-pending Trilode triple wide racking system enables the transfer and storage of three pallets simultaneously. The racking allows the handling of multiple pallets in a single movement. This high density storage system has been tested with both conventional lift trucks and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Twinlode Corporation, 800-535-6719, www.twinlode.com.

Automated system flips loads

The Pak-Man upender-inverter includes powered conveyor and micro-processor control for automatic operation. Actions include automatic loading, clamping 180-degree rotation, upending, opening and unloading in automated process-handling operations. The unit automatically loads large panels, doors, cabinets, stacks of sheet material, metal, paper or wood. Once lifted, the unit flips the load upside down or right-side up and discharges it. Standard deck size is 4 x 8 feet with a 6-inch high opening. Capacities of 2,000; 4,000; 6,000 and 10,000 pounds are available. Smaller size units for upending boxes, containers or machine parts are offered. Air Technical Industries, 440-951-5191, www.airtechnical.com.

Batch picking on the go

For fast and accurate multiple order batch picking, a mobile picking solution uses low-cost, wireless, infrared communications technology to enable light-directed picking from storage bays and simultaneous light-directed putting to cart locations containing customer orders. The system integrates voice direction, Bluetooth-enabled bar code scanning, and light-directed picking/putting in a single system. Employing a cart-mounted PDA to control lights on picking bays and carts, the system initiates the picking process by reading a text file containing ticket data from the WMS. FastFetch Corporation, 864-650-1990, www.fastfetch.biz.

Mobile data capture

Helping warehouse employees, the Cadence mobile logistics system captures data through touch-screen, bar code scanner, camera, RFID or voice technology on a single handheld computer. The Microsoft Windows-based system connects the mobile worker with the main database, updating in real time. At any time while picking, users may select the most effective way to receive and input data, including hands-free voice-directed, keyboard or scanner, based on work conditions. Cadre Technologies, 877-564-4843, www.cadretechnologies.com.

Collision avoidance system

The Indoor Collision Avoidance system for industrial vehicles reduces the number of accidents caused by collisions between automated guided vehicles and lift trucks. The system improves AGV route planning by incorporating knowledge of lift truck locations. AGVs, forklifts and other free-roaming and guided vehicles are equipped with the Sky-Trax Indoor Positioning System, which determines each vehicle's position and broadcasts it to other vehicles in the network. The system forewarns drivers and AGV navigation systems of impending collisions. Danaher Motion, 866-993-2624, www.danahermotion.com.

Table-top print and apply labeler

The Shadow label print and apply system's printer can be placed on a table top for semi-automated work cells or mounted on a stand for in-line labeling on a conveyor. Featuring all-electric operation, the unit uses an electric tamp applicator requiring no compressed air. This auto-tamp feature detects contact with product and automatically returns home after label is applied. RFID models are also available. Panther Industries, 303-703-9876, www.print-n-apply.com

Flexible program sharing

To simplify the storing of controller applications without a PC, the portable program device uploads and downloads controller configuration and logic to and from any USB memory stick using USB connection. Simple to operate, the device connects directly to the communications port on the controller and can be panel-mounted or handheld. With the device, application programs can be easily e-mailed anywhere, saving time and money and cutting downtime. Durable for all industrial applications, the device eliminates the need to send hardware through the mail, working through problems on the phone or bringing in technicians for fixes. GE Fanuc Automation, 800-433-2682, www.gefanuc.com.

Cordless Bluetooth scanners

The Symbol LS3578-ER and LS3578-FZ cordless Bluetooth scanners for warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing environments handle scan-intensive work in extreme conditions. Sealed to IP65 specifications against water and dust, the devices can withstand multiple 6.5-foot drops to concrete. Integrated Bluetooth capabilities enable easy integration with other Bluetooth-enabled devices including the supplier's vehicle-fixed-mount mobile computer. Other features include remote scanner management for immediate location of scanners and remote application updates from a central location. The FZ scanner incorporates fuzzy logic technology for accurate and fast reading of worn, damaged, dirty and poorly printed bar codes. The ER scanner can read bar codes as close as four inches and as far away as 45 feet. Motorola, 800-367-2346, www.motorola.com.

Lift truck fleet management

The Fleet Solution lift truck fleet management program provides an enterprise-wide view of lift truck procurement, use and service. The data-driven solution is SAP-driven to analyze fleet operations and generate personalized recommendations to yield lean performance. The system incorporates five components: fleet analysis, consolidated billing, fleet metrics, 24/7 toll-free call center, and the customizable TotalFleet program. By conducting fleet inventory, application, operation and maintenance expense surveys the supplier can make fleet optimization recommendations for improved efficiencies. Toyota Material Handling USA, 800-226-0009, www.toyotaforklift.com.

Sustainable packaging protects loads

VBoard edge protection is applied to the four corners of a pallet load and secured with stretch wrap or banding to contain and protect loads. The packaging may be used to square off normally unstackable loads for improved space utilization, yielding more efficient shipping. Returnable and recyclable, corner guards are made from recycled fiber that is typically 80% post-consumer waste and 20% pre-consumer waste. Laminations, 800-925-2626, www.laminationsonline.com.
