With climate change, rising energy costs, an increasingly stringent regulatory environment and added stakeholder pressures driving the materials handling and logistics industry to more closely examine the greening of the supply chain, you won’t want to miss the North American Material Handling Show and Conference Keynote address.Entitled “Green to Gold: How Smart Companies Use Environmental Strategy to Innovate, Create Value, and Build High Performance Supply Chains,” the presentation will provide a compelling blueprint for how forward-thinking companies can address critical environmental issues.
Presented tomorrow from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in the Ballroom by author Andrew Winston, the session will address issues ranging from climate change to energy to water, and how companies can leverage these issues to generate supply chain performance improvements, gain competitive advantage and increase profits. Winston is the co-author of “Green to Gold: How Smart Companies Use Environmental Strategy to Innovate, Create Value, and Build Competitive Advantage.”
In his presentation, Winston will lay out the forces coming to bear, called the Green Wave, including the pressures for greener supply chains driven by large companies in all industries, particularly Wal-Mart. Takeaways include strategies that use environmental thinking to create high performance supply chains, drive new revenues, enhance brand value, cut costs and reduce risk. Participants will learn what works—and what doesn’t—when companies go green.
Winston, a nationally recognized expert on green business, has written for or appeared in Time, BusinessWeek, Forbes, The New York Times, ABC News, CNBC—and Modern Materials Handling. Well-known as a speaker to Fortune 500 company executives and conferences around the world, he has consulted for diverse companies including Bank of America and IKEA. Winston draws on real-world business experience combined with his intimate knowledge of the overlap between environment and business.
Keynote attendees will receive a limited-edition NA 2008 zippered tote bag, says Robin Moody, manager of conference programs for the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA). The totes are made of recycled materials and have been donated by the sponsors of the Green Pavilion.
