Cattron highlights LCAS and MKU products
Cattron Group International (Booth 2137) showed its Laser Collision Avoidance System (LCAS) with advanced laser technology that ensures overhead cranes and hoists don’t collide with walls or overhead equipment.

Field adjustable, the system can be programmed for alarm, slowed or stopped at any user-selected distance. With a range of 164 feet, the device can sense distance changes of as little as 0.12 inches. The alarm output is activated whenever a unit detects any target moving within its set warning distance.
“LCAS uses retroreflective Class 1 laser technology, which can detect either stationary or moving objects,” said Jeremy Pearson, Cattron’s sales director of North America Material Handling. Unlike some other products on the market, everything is in one enclosure. Set up is easy and most of it can be done on the floor before taking it up to the crane so downtime is kept to a minimum.
Cattron is also displaying the MKU, one of the first radio remote controls for overhead cranes to combine the design requirements of the North American market with European CE safety approvals. The controller employs industrial grade mil-spec digital components protected by a thick-walled, epoxy-coated extruded aluminum case. Features include power-on self diagnostics and keypad audible feedback.
