Konstant introduces new pallet runner

Konstant (Booth 3000), a supplier of warehouse racking and pallet storage solutions, introduced an automated high density storage system for users of drive-through pallet rack.

“Many of our customers are looking for solutions to increase the productivity of their facilities, but aren’t ready yet to move away from lift trucks and pallet racks to an automated storage and retrieval system,” explained Ray Chase, Konstant’s executive vice president. “This solution allows them to automate the putaway portion of the operations and free up their lift truck drivers for other activities.”

In a typical drive-through pallet operation, a lift truck driver delivers the load to the putaway location in a deep lane configuration. Using the pallet runner system, a driver drops off a load at a home position at either end of the rack. A Pallet Runner Cart, controlled by a transmitter, picks up the pallet and automatically delivers it or retrieves it from a storage location in the rack. The system has the flexibility to retrieve pallets from any lane with multiple SKU locations without driving into the system.

“We designed this for industries like food and beverage that are handling a high number of pallets but a limited number of SKUs,” Chase said. “The return on investment comes from the ability to move the same amount of loads with fewer lift trucks, and to eliminate off-site storage by getting higher-density storage in a facility.”
