CEMA reports increase in orders for June
The conveyor association's June 2008 index gained 51 points from May to June, but has seen a 6% decrease from last year.

Conveyor sales increased in June, but were still down from this time last year. The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported a 41% increase in the Booked Orders Index from May to June, up 51 points. But, the June 2008 index of 175 is a 6% decrease from June 2007’s index of 187.
Specifically, unit handling equipment came in at 160, while bulk handling equipment was 223.
The CEMA Billed Sales, or shipments, index was also up eight points, at 155, from May 2008. It was a 5% increase from June 2007’s 147. June’s Billed Sales Indexes were 136 for unit handling equipment and 242 for bulk handling equipment.
There was no change from May in the Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales, holding steady at 146 in June. The bulk handling systems are reported quarterly, and averaged back to the two preceding months.
