Datalogic acquires Datasensor

Automatic data capture (ADC) company Datalogic announced its acquisition of Datasensor, a photoelectric sensors and devices company.
According to a release from Datalogic, the deal will allow the two companies to strengthen their market positions in the industrial automation sector. Datasensor produces optoelectronic sensors and devices for detection, safety, measurement and inspection in industrial automation, including non-photoelectric sensors and temperature controllers. The deal is worth €45 million ($62.3 million).
Italy-based Datalogic, which produces bar code scanners, handheld scanners, data collection mobile computers and RFID systems, ranks No. 7 on Modern’s 2008 top ADC suppliers list, with annual revenue of $578.7 million. Motorola is No. 1 with $2.05 billion.
