Nissan is first to meet CARB emission limits
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2001
Two internal combustion engines from Nissan Forklift are the first from a lift truck manufacturer to win compliance certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for lower exhaust emissions.
The engines are four cylinder, carburetor-equipped models running on LPG (propane) or gasoline fuels. They feature an electronic feedback system that includes an engine control module and sensors combined with a three-way catalytic converter to limit harmful emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides. Nissan forklifts with lift capacities from 3,000 to 8,000 pounds will offer users the option of having a California-compliant engine installed.
