Silent auction benefits education

Think of it as a win/win situation. Wildeck, Inc., a Waukesha, Wisc. manufacturer of mezzanines and vertical reciprocating conveyors, held a silent auction of their premier, custom-engineered mezzanine during ProMat 2001.
Nelson Equipment Co., Inc., Freeport, La., was the highest bidder at $1,500. All proceeds went to the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI) to help another aspiring scholar enter the materials handling industry.
Established in 1976, the Foundation, sponsored by the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA), has provided funds to graduate and undergraduate students as well as to academicians and their institutions.
In addition to providing scholarships, funds also sponsor grants to faculty and students to attend conferences and seminars directly related to the field of materials handling.
"The Material Handling Education Foundation board is deeply grateful to Wildeck for this generous program," said Victoria M. Wheeler, executive director, MHEFI. "It will not only serve to provide funds to support the Foundation's scholarship program, it will also provide awareness of the Foundation to a broad range of the logistics industry."
Those goals are shared by Wildeck, says Keith G. Pignolet, vice president of sales for the Waukesha, Wisc., manufacturer of mezzanines, vertical reciprocating conveyors, and other materials handling products.
"This donation is part of Wildeck's commitment to give back to organizations that provide opportunities and improvements in the materials handling industry," Pignolet said. "We salute MHEFI for sharing our commitment and dedication to individuals entering the materials handling and logistics fields."
