Vertex Interactive buys Transcape
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2001
Vertex Interactive, Inc., a Clifton, NJ, provider of supply chain execution systems, has acquired the Transcape parcel package management system from Pitney Bowes.
"This is part of our strategy to become the dominant leader in supply chain execution solutions," Russ McCabe, Vertex Interactive's COO for North America, said during a press conference at ProMat 2001.
That vision involves providing warehouse and transportation management software for users of all sizes. It also includes complete hardware and maintenance solutions for Vertex Interactive's customers.
"We believe our customers want someone who can be more than a point solution provider," McCabe said. "They want a business partner they can rely on as their business changes. We now have a cradle-to-grave solution that can grow with a company as their size and needs change."
The Transcape acquisition comes on the heels of other recent deals by Vertex. These include the purchase of Renaissance Software, Lake Success, N.Y., and the addition of Applied Tactical Systems, Fairfield, N.J.
McCabe said the company would continue to add new products through acquisitions in the coming months to add more depth to the product line.
