Managing the supply chain
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/1/2001
The Uniform Code Council Inc. (UCC) has designed a new series of educational, one-day regional seminars under the Supply Chain U name to promote a better understanding of supply chain management issues and solutions.
With a choice of either an electronic commerce (EC) or automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) track, the seminars provide valuable real-world supply chain education for AIDC and EC professionals new to their job, as well as those wishing to brush up on the latest developments.
The AIDC course focuses on the technologies and their benefits to the supply chain. Also covered is the use of global trade item numbers in business processes to speed products through the supply chain, and the value of EAN/UCC system standards.
The EC course offers an understanding of electronic data interchange (EDI) and its benefits. It also focuses on the internal business and technical decisions that need to be made before implementation of EDI.
There are four seminars left for 2001: May 22 in Orlando, Fla.; June 6 in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.; September 18 in Dallas, Texas; and October 30 in South San Francisco, Calif. The cost is $295 for UCC members and $350 for non-members.
