Prevent dock accidents

Prevent forklift roll-off and overhead door damage with the door and dock guard (DDG). Equipping a dock leveler with the DDG improves the safety and efficiency of loading docks. The raised safety guard protects forklifts from drop-off zone dangers when the overhead door is open, and acts as a pallet stop to guard overhead door panels and tracks from impact damage. The DDG is 6.5 inches high by 60 inches wide by 3/8 inch thick steel. Under normal circumstances, it can stop forklifts moving at 5 miles/hour. Blue Giant Equipment Corp. 800-668-7078

Hydraulic dock leveler

An 8 1/2-ft wide hydraulic dock leveler allows full access to wide, fully loaded trailers. Forklifts can safely, quickly handle every load without obstruction, including end loads or trailers loaded to capacity. Rugged steel DokSaver bumpers are integral components of the leveler's deck structure. These bumpers and rear impact hinges absorb the load of the truck's impact when it backs up to the dock. Door withstands extreme temperatures, abuse

Reduce door damage and downtime costs with the Welterweight knockout style dock door that handles the day-to-day knocks of unexpected impacts. The door rides on spring loaded plungers that release the panel from its guides upon impact. Drivers can simply snap the pins back into place and the door is ready to go again. The Impact-A-Track design means the door can be knocked outward to avoid damage, but cannot be pushed inward, ensuring security. TKO Doors 800-575-3366

Shelter with flexibility, full access

The S-2200 Ultra Dock Shelter combines the flexibility of a dock seal with full trailer access afforded by a dock shelter. A tight seal is created between the building wall and the back of the truck, providing energy savings and added comfort for dock em-ployees. Cold, rain, sleet, and snow are kept out of the warehouse by a raked translucent head member that allows natural light to enter the dock area. If an off-center trailer backs into the side pad, the foam-filled side member will compress and remain undamaged. Serco 972-323-6730

Durable dock levelers

A line of edge-of-dock levelers offers all welded, high-strength steel construction for low maintenance, durability, and resistance to daily abuse. The levelers are fully self contained for efficient, immediate use. They are versatile, and can handle loads 5 inches higher or lower than the dock. Standard capacities are 20,000 pounds, while 30,000 pound capacities are optional. Lengths range from 30 to 96 inches. Torbeck Industries 800-333-0080

Re-engineered dock levelers

Both a mechanical and hydraulic dock leveler have been upgraded. Two new features provide easy, trouble-free operation of the mechanical model. A patent-pending mechanism enables ultra-smooth lip extension and extra-sensitive yield reaction. The deck design, which responds to less weight, allows easy and smooth "deck walk-down" by workers. The hydraulic dock leveler now features simple push-button control, fully hydraulic operation for both the deck and lip. Its hydraulic fall-safe design prevents the deck from falling if a truck departs early from the dock. Pentalift Equip. Corp. 519-763-3625

Hydraulic leveler

The EHP series hydraulic leveler features a 55,000 pound minimum-yield steel tread plate on the deck and lip, push button hydraulic actuation, 16-inch lip projection, and a 12-inch above/below deck operating range. Single, rotary switch control provides easy activation and recycling of the leveler either when the truck departs or while the truck is at the dock. Pioneer Loading Dock Equipment 800-251-3382

Aluminum yard ramp

Steel yard ramps are built with open serrated grating, foam-filled pneumatic tires, and custom formed side curbs painted yellow for high visibility. Welded to the side curbs are specially formed beams, making a super-strong one-piece unit. Sizes range from 70 inches wide by 20 feet long to 96 inches wide by 42 feet long. Capacities range from 10,000 to 60,000 pounds. Rampmaster Inc. 305-691-9090

Low-profile truck restraint

Prevent accidents at the loading dock with the Anchor truck-lock vehicle restraint. This versatile restraint secures the trailer to the dock, and allows effective communication between the truck driver and dock attendant. The lock has no outside motors, gear drives, or hydraulics, so its operation is not affected by water, snow, or debris. The driveway embedment, which is shear mounted, is very strong. The lock accommodates all types of trucks and trailers and will accept the new lowered (22 inch) ICC bars. Nova Technologies 800-236-7325

Vehicle restraint increases safety

The ETR electric push button vehicle restraint aids in the prevention of trailer separation from the dock. The non-impact design offers a 12- to 30-inch capture range and meets the current NHTSA rear impact guard regulations. Safety features include an automatic alarm and automatic return-to-stored position capability. McGuire Equipment 800-McGuire

Protect product and pedestrians

The Supercompact door is crash-forgiving and automatically self-repairing, creating a continuous seal when the door is not in use. When the doorway is in use, the roll-up door's soft curtain guarantees the safety of both the people and product passing through the opening. A gravity-driven system propels the door to open at speeds to 4 feet/second, closing at a safe 4 feet/second as well. Dynaco USA, Inc. 800-459-1930

Anti-insect strip door

Clear-Flex II strip doors utilize AmberTech, which reduces glare and wards off insects. The door offers the benefits of clear, flexible strip doors, but its light amber tint appears black and opaque to insects. This tint also filters visible light transmitted through the PVC strip. Aleco 800-633-3120

Seals and shelters

Econo Max dock seals and shelters cut heating and cooling losses through the door by 80% or more. Custom-designed dock seals feature 2-inch thick pressure treated, kiln-dried wood backing. A 22-ounce yellow vinyl guide stripe is sewn to the wear surface. The dock shelters are made of pressure treated lumber. The Tedlar top and side outer skin provides translucency and resistance to weather extremes. Features include 6-inch steel channel protective bumpers and extruded aluminum trim on side members. Chase Doors 800-543-4455

Inflatable dock seal

The Model P dock seal features a permanent shelter over the dock that protects the dock year round while assuring an airtight sealing capacity for trucks 12 feet 3 inches and taller. The shelter has a switch operated self-contained blower to position the pneumatic legs to the rear of the truck while lowering the retractable top for a complete seal. All sections touching the truck retract. This new shelter concept has the advantage of three separate moving parts that can be replaced individually if necessary. All units have knock-down tops that are easily installed and fabric covered. Airlocke Dock Seals 800-538-2388

Withstand the elements

When the Fast-Seal high-speed roll door is hit by a forklift, it can be reset in just minutes with the help of a break-away bottom bar. The durable door operates at up to 40 inches/second, and is well-suited for interior and exterior applications with heavy traffic. Reinforced side frames have front and rear wind bar guides and a full height weather seal to protect from outside elements. A sensitive auto-reversing edge and dual thru-beam photo eyes reverse the door upward if an object enters the door's closing path or an object is contacted. Rytec Corp. 262-677-9046
