Accu-Sort Systems, Booth 2047, introduced the AccuLazr AL5010 laser bar code scanner. The device’s modular design includes a scan head, mounting base, power supply and choice of interface modules. It’s intended for mid-range distance read applications from 5 to 48 inches, depending on bar code size, explained Pratap Chakravarthy, director of marketing.

In addition to flexible connectivity options, the scanner requires no maintenance other than keeping the scanning window clean in dusty environments. “In the event of failure, the scan head is hot-swappable and can be replaced in less than 5 minutes without reconfiguration or realignment,” noted Chakravarthy. “Pressing a button on the scan head uploads parameters from the storage module in the mounting base, and it’s back in operation.”

To further help users track performance over an Ethernet or EtherNet/IP connection, the AL5010 is also compatible with the company’s FAST Monitor remote monitoring and diagnostics system.

ProMat 2011 will be held March 21 - 24, 2011 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry.

In light of the growth of e-commerce-and the fact that consumers and businesses are buying again, many of the discussions that we had at ProMat 2015 didn't revolve around the products and the equipment on display as much as it did the supplemental technology and solutions that are designed to optimize systems in an effort to work "smarter."
