Barcoding Inc.’s (Booth 4973) CEO Jay Steinmetz, a self-proclaimed #SupplyChainGeek is geeking out over his company’s new Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) asset beacons.
“It’s a paradigm shift for active RFID. These beacons have so many sensors and work with standard equipment that companies already have—but principally because they are at incredibly low price points,” he said.
“They allow enterprises to track physical inventory in near-real time by continuously transmitting information about each item’s presence, temperature and movement so that users always know the exact condition of their inventory,” Steinmetz added.
Further, the beacons are efficiency boosters, magnetically attachable to a variety of existing locations in minutes, he said. “They can be placed on existing bins, cabinets or shelves to create a pick-to-light system in minutes without retrofitting whole sets of storage units, saving millions of dollars.”
