In a press conference on Monday, AutoGuide (Booth 1227) previewed the TVX short frame tunneling automatic guided vehicle (AGV), and the addition of natural feature guidance technology on its ITM5K industrial tugger.
With its shorter frame length, the TVX enables tighter turns than many other tunneling AGVs on the market, said Scott McElmurray, VP. “It also features large battery capacity for extended duration of power and increased motor size for higher load capacity at a higher speeds.”
Like AutoGuide’s TV1000 tunneling AGV, the TVX tunnels under and hitches to its loads to optimize assembly line processes and lean manufacturing.
The natural feature guidance on the ITM5K industrial tugger uses laser scanners to determine the path of the vehicle, added McElmurray, who noted that this allows for simpler installation and adjustments with less routing infrastructure. “For automatic load transfer operations, the unit docks accurately within 0.2 inches, and handles up to 10,000 pounds,” he said.
