Built on the Mobile-Matic portable A-Frame dispenser, a new automatic kitting system helps manufacturers and DCs pick kits and orders with up to 98% less labor, said Ed Romaine, VP of sales and marketing for SI Systems (Booth 4963) in a press conference on Tuesday.
“It’s just freaking fast,” he said. “Every organization does some degree of kitting, but it’s both time- and resource-consuming, and not an area that operations managers typically consider for automation.”
Affordable and compact, the system fills up to 2,200 orders per hour, he said. “The more kits you do, the faster and better your efficiencies become for a return-on-investment in less than four months.”
Each frame includes up to 16 channels that hold items with maximum dimensions of 5 x 7.4 x 4.5 inches. “Each channel dispenses up to five items per second, and includes multiple sensors that determine which order is being filled and that the correct item has been successfully dispensed,” added Romaine.
