ProMat 2009: Konstant’s Pallet Runner gains momentum

Konstant is known as a supplier of racks and rack systems, but also offers more automated pallet storage solutions such as its Pallet Runner Gen 3. With the Gen 3 product, a remote-controlled cart stores and retrieves pallet loads within a deep lane, high-density storage configuration.

Konstant (Booth 1519) is known as a supplier of racks and rack systems, but also offers more automated pallet storage solutions such as its Pallet Runner Gen 3. With the Gen 3 product, a remote-controlled cart stores and retrieves pallet loads within a deep lane, high-density storage configuration.

At a series of seminars at its ProMat booth, Konstant focused on the Gen 3 system. “Gen 3 is ideal for high-density, high throughput, deep-lane storage,” said Ray Chase, executive vice president for Konstant.

The Gen 3 carts are controlled by remote-control terminals that lift truck drivers can use either by hand or mount on their truck. The Gen 3 system has been on the market just less than two years, said Chase, but already boasts 100,000 pallet positions within the customer base. One customer handles 15,000 pallet positions with a Gen 3 solution.

Konstant can pair Gen 3 and its deep racks for high-volume pallet storage surrounded with more conventional racks for case picking and handling. Also at ProMat, Konstant displayed its rack solution for rack-supported buildings. This type of rack can support buildings or house an automated storage and retrieval system.
