Vocollect is highlighting the latest enhancements to its voice-directed picking solution with a live, continuous demonstration of how voice enhances picking, receiving and putaway processes in Booth 3968.

The demonstration of the software enhancements supports the company’s vision of the voice-centric warehouse, explained Tony Nicolazzo, line product manager. “Visitors can see someone actively interacting with product, racking and a pallet jack as they follow and respond the voice-directed instructions,” he said.

For further explanation of the voice-centric warehouse, Vocollect released the second chapter of their free eBook, “The Talking Warehouse,” at the show yesterday. The new chapter, “Demystifying Voice in the Warehouse,” focuses on industrial grade speech recognition and examines how voice-directed workflows work, the pros and cons of different approaches to industrial speech recognition, and the business value of speech recognition in voice.

Additionally, continued Nicolazzo, Red Prairie (Booth 3676) announced that they have adopted Vocollect’s software development platform to expand voice into picking, putaway, replenishment, loading and cycle counting processes for enhanced efficiency.

ProMat 2011 will be held March 21 - 24, 2011 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern editors produce the Show Daily for the show.
