Dematic, a global supplier of logistics systems for factory, warehouse and distribution centers, is expanding its research and development (R&D) capabilities to an additional location. Opened today, the new office, located in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, will address customers’ needs to further innovate the supply chain, effectively improving order accuracy and timeliness to consumers.
Dematic’s new Vice President of Global Software Development, Pete Devenyi, a former Senior Vice President of Enterprise Software at BlackBerry, will lead the expansion efforts and oversee the software development activities at the new facility.
“High demand for cutting-edge technology to help automate and optimize warehouses is imperative for responding to increased customer requests for order speed and precision,” said Ulf Henriksson, President and CEO, Dematic Group. “Opening an additional office will enable Dematic to benefit from the incredible software talent in this region. We look forward to passing this expertise on to our customers.”
The company is planning to grow the office to more than 20 employees through the course of its upcoming fiscal year. Positions to be filled include software developers, test automation specialists, performance engineers, software process experts and experienced software architects. The expanded R&D capabilities will help ensure that Dematic continues to provide its customers with the most advanced systems in the industry as they automate their distribution centers.
“As the company grows, it’s important we invest in the R&D capabilities of our business,” said Devenyi. “Dematic is a leader in the supply chain and world-class software is a key element of the solutions we provide. This new facility will help ensure our customers maintain their competitive advantage and stay ahead of emerging industry trends.”
