The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline fell for the fourth straight week, according to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 2.1-cent decline, the national average for diesel now stands at $2.544 per gallon, following a 1.8-cent decline last week to $2.565.
Going back to the week of April 17, when the average price per gallon matched the highest average price per gallon for 2017 at $2.597, the weekly average price has fallen a cumulative 5.3 cents over the last four weeks.
Compared to the same week a year ago, this week’s national average price is up 24.7 cents.
WTI Crude is currently trading at $49.17 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. A CNBC report explained that this marked a 3 percent gain, following an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Russia to extend production cuts into 2018.
