Diesel prices head up for first time in four weeks, reports EIA

The Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported this week that the average price per gallon of diesel gasoline headed up for the first time in four weeks.

With a 0.7 cent increase, the average price per gallon is at $2.472, following declines of 3.5 cents , 4 cents,  and 0.7 cents, respectively, over the previous three weeks. 

These declines stretched back to the week of May 29, which was up 3.2 cents, and was preceded by five straight weeks of declines of 0.5 cents, 2.1 cents, 1.8 cents, 1.2 cents, and 0.2 cents over the previous five weeks for a cumulative 5.8 cent decline going back to the week of April 17.

This week’s average price is up 4.9 cents compared to the same week a year ago.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil is currently trading at $45.38 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
