Greetings from (Hot) Atlanta

Latest Material Handling News

Greetings from Atlanta. I am at the eyefortransport 3PL Summit. This is the fifth year I have made the trip down from New England for this event. And if past years are any indication, this year’s event should be replete with excellent commentary, analysis, and insight from those in the know i.e. 3PL CEO’s, shippers, and industry analysts and consultants, among others.

While I truly enjoy this conference for its editorial value, the one thing I can safely say is I don’t like the heat….last I checked, it was a tepid 97- Ouch!!

Heat aside, the 2010 3PL Summit comes at a good time, given the myriad things occurring in the market, whether it be outsourcing logistics strategies, going green, energy-related matters, tech trends, managing capacity and shipper-3PL relationships and collaboration to name a few.

In my short time here today, I have talked to a few industry friends and learned the following: rates are going up, demand is improving, and things are better than they were a year ago. Chances are, you already know these things but I am writing a blog and have not hit any sessions yet today, so give me a break, ok? Grin.

In any event, it is great to be back in Atlanta for this terrific event. Please be sure to check http://www.logisticsmgmt.com later in the week for event-related news stories and more blog postings.

As always, thanks for reading Newsroom Notes.
