How do you move a 1,600-pound pumpkin? Very carefully… and with a Crown lift truck. Crown Equipment’s new Class V pneumatic tire forklift recently tackled an exciting and unusual outdoor application when it was used to maneuver the gigantic winning 1,600-pound pumpkin at Pumpkinfest 2010, an annual event held in New Bremen, Ohio, where Crown is headquartered.
Crown Equipment, one of the world’s leading forklift manufacturers, supplied a Crown C-5 Series pneumatic model, along with other forklifts, to lift and transport more than 20 pumpkins for the event’s “largest pumpkin competition.” Nearly every pumpkin weighed more than 1,000 pounds.
Crown Equipment introduced the Crown C-5 Series pneumatic industrial forklift last month. The forklift is designed to eliminate the frequent maintenance, excessive downtime and shortened lifespan that limit operator productivity in heavy-duty outdoor forklift applications. The Crown C-5 Series pneumatic model is equipped with an industrial John Deere Power Systems (John Deere) engine, a dual open-core radiator that offers independent engine and transmission cooling, a long-lasting power brake, and solid pneumatic tires as standard features. The forklift, which is available in capacities ranging from 4,000 pounds to 6,500 pounds, can deliver a lifespan up to two times longer than comparable IC forklifts and can lower scheduled maintenance checks by 87%.
