As chairman of MHI and on behalf of our officers and members, it is my privilege to welcome you to ProMat 2013—the industry’s premier expo for manufacturing and supply chain innovation.

ProMat 2013 will be four days of non-stop solutions for your manufacturing, distribution and logistics operations. To make it easier for you to find the solutions you need, ProMat’s 800 exhibits are organized into convenient solution-specific centers: manufacturing and assembly solutions; information technology (IT) solutions; fulfillment and delivery solutions; and a knowledge center featuring 100 show floor educational seminars. Please visit the Knowledge Center Show Floor Theaters at the back right of the show hall for titles and times of these educational sessions.

The ProMat conference will also feature keynotes today, tomorrow and Wednesday morning that will explore many issues impacting supply chains and trade. Today, Henrik Christensen, KUKA chair of robotics and director of robotics at Georgia Tech, will discuss the new wave of robotics that is revolutionizing manufacturing and distribution operations at 8:45 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom, S100.

In addition, today we are announcing our first-ever ProMat Innovation Award winners. This award showcases new products and innovations presented by ProMat exhibitors. The winners will be chosen in two categories: Best New Innovation and Best Innovation of an Existing Product.

ProMat offers many opportunities to connect with your peers, including The Hub social networking lounge and two MHI Social Hour events today and tomorrow directly after the show in the Grand Concourse outside the show floor entrance.

MHI is proud to sponsor ProMat 2013, Modex 2014 (March 17-20, 2014, in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center) and to represent the industry that provides the essential solutions that make the supply chain work. For more information on MHI programs, visit Booth 3355 on the ProMat show floor or visit http://www.mhi.org.

Enjoy the show!

Very often companies debate needing a new WMS or just muddling through while constantly adding to the List. The List is that set of notes that operations people wish their WMS could do. Every operation has their unique items, things their business requires that their WMS system doesn't do, or does poorly. This white paper reviews how to extend a WMS to allow the List to become a thing of the past.
